  • You can prepare chicken tandoori in a pan, air fryer, oven, griller, and charcoal tandoor. In this recipe I have used a pan for preparation.
  • Ensure the chicken pieces are cooked perfectly on both sides.
  • Heat a charcoal on medium flame until it turns red. Place a small steel bowl in between the chicken leg pieces for smoky flavour.
  • Serve it with mint or green chutney alongside sliced onions and lemon wedges.

Ingredients  

  • 2 Chicken leg pieces
  • 1/2 Cup Hung curd
  • 1 Tbsp kashmiri red chilli powder
  • 1/2 Tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 Tbsp Ginger garlic paste
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/4 Tsp Red orange food color

Instructions 

For marinating chicken

  • Two Chicken leg pieces washed and cleaned.
  • Make deep cuts into chicken pieces.
  • 1/2 Cup Hung curd.
  • Add 1 Tbsp kashmiri red chilli powder.
  • 1/2 Tsp turmeric powder.
  • 1 Tbsp ginger garlic paste.
  • Salt to taste.
  • 1/4 Tsp red orange food color.
  • Now whisk all the ingredients well. Your marination is ready.
  • Rub the chicken leg pieces with the marination until it is well coated.
  • Cover it and let it rest for 6-7 hours in a refrigerator.
  • For more taste you can also marinate and rest it overnight.
  • After 6-7 hours remove it from the refrigrator and rub it little once again.

Preparing Tandoori Chicken

  • Now switch on the flame, Heat a pan add some oil and butter and spread it evenly.
  • Place the chicken leg pieces in a pan.
  • Rub the leftover masala or marination if any over the leg pieces.
  • Cover it with a lid and let cook for 8-10 minutes.
  • Flip over and cook the other side as well for 8-10 minutes.
  • After 8-10 minnutes check and flip over again until it is well cooked.
  • Once the chicken leg pieces is slight charred and release smoky aroma.
  • Switch off the flame and remove it in a bowl.

For smoky flavor

  • Heat a charcoal on medium flame until it turns red.
  • Place a small steel bowl in between the chicken leg pieces.
  • When it turns hot and red, drop it in a small steel bowl.
  • Immediately pour some butter or ghee and cover it and allow to smoke for 2-3 minutes.
  • Remove the small steel bowl, the super delicious chicken tandoori is ready.
  • You can serve it with mint or green chutney alongside sliced onions and lemon wedges.
