Ingredients  

  • 1 Cup Split gram dal (chana dal) washed & soaked for 1hour
  • 2 Finely chopped onions
  • 2 Finely chopped tomatoes
  • 1 Tbsp Ginger garlic paste
  • 1/4 Tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 Tsp Red chilli powder
  • 1/2 Tsp Coriander powder
  • 1/2 Tsp Cumin powder
  • 1/2 Tsp Kitchen king masala
  • 1/2 Tsp Garam masala powder
  • Salt as per taste

Instructions 

  • In a pressure cooker add chana dal
  • Add 2 cups water - Add 1/4 Tsp turmeric powder - Add 1/2 Tsp salt - Give it a mix
  • Close the lid and pressure cook on high flame for 2-3 whistles
  • open the vessel when pressure is released completely and give a slight stir
  • Heat 3 Tbsp oil in a pan - - Add 1/2 Tsp cumin seeds - 2 Bay leaves
  • Add 2 finely chopped onions - Saute until golden brown
  • Add 1 Tbsp ginger garlic paste - Stir for few seconds
  • Add 2 finely chopped tomatoes - give it a mix
  • Add 1/4 Tsp turmeric powder
  • Add 1/2 Tsp red chilli powder
  • Add 1/2 Tsp coriander powder
  • Add 1/2 Tsp cumin powder
  • Add 1/2 Tsp kitchen king masala
  • Add 1/2 Tsp Garam masala powder - Mix well
  • Cover and let it cook for 3-4 minutes
  • When soft and cooked well - Add dal and salt as per taste
  • Add Few coriander leaves - Give it a mix
  • Add 1/2 cup water - Cover and let it cook for 5-7 minutes
  • Check if dal is cooked well - Remove it in a serving dish

  • In a tadka pan add 1 tbsp oil
  • Add two garlic cloves - sliced
  • Add two dried red chillies and give it a mix
  • Finally add tempering to the dal
  • Serve with roti, paratha, naan
